The Cemetery
As I have not been able to visit Bamberg in 2004, I cannot make any personal comments on the state of the cemetery, but the reports I have had all mention its good condition.
The cemetery keeper Mr. Trager has told me that the city of Bamberg has resumed the provision, interrupted for some years, of cast bronze plates carrying the basic information on the deceased, to be fitted to headstones where the inscriptions had been eroded by air pollution and rain. It has been possible to provide this information by reference to the grave register, if the grave number at the rear of a headstone is still legible, which is usually the case.
I do not know why the supply had been interrupted.
The Memorial Book
As Chriss, together with Johann Fleischmann, had signified her intention to publish the book in order to make it available to a wider public than Mr. Fichtl and I had intended, we do not know how to proceed at the moment.
