The 87-year old Prof. Simon Noveck, Toms River, New Jersey, who teaches Jewish History at Brooklyn College and elsewhere, was on a tour to research Jewish life in Germany today for a book he is writing and spent almost a week in Bamberg. I showed him round the cemetery on Sunday morning, and tried to take him to old Bamberg in the afternoon, but the weather was so atrocious that we had to flee to a Konditorei.

Since his return to the USA, I have heard from him that he spent two days at the Bavarian State Library in Bamberg in order to read through all my 16 Letters from Bamberg up to and incl. Nr. 16 (2001). I was amazed at so much devotion to scholarship.!
