that according to the Bamberger Tagblatt of 23 March 1888, the Jewish community had ordered 75 Zentner (= 7500 kg = ca. 16500lb) of Mazzos for Pesach. As there were about 1000 Jews in Bamberg at the time, incl. children, each consumed or gave away 16.5 lbs over the eight days, or two pounds a day. Our forefathers evidently did not know about calories!
The quantity involved encouraged the authorities to tax Mazzos like bread for the first time.!
