This will cover the history of the Jews in Bamberg from the end of the Princebishopric in 1803 to 1942. Although I shall have to work on the Community files at the Central Archive in Jerusalem, the material is largely to be found in Bamberg. In this respect, the situation differs from that for my Juden in Bamberg, die Jahrzehnte vor dem Holocaust (Jews in Bamberg: the decades before the Holocaus). I am very glad, therefore, to have secured the cooperation of two well-informed Bamberg historians, Franz Fichtl and Stefan Link, co-authors of the remarkable book on the destruction of the ca. 240 Jewish businesses and professional practices in Bamberg entitled "Bambergs Wirtschaft judenfrei", (Bamberg 1998), an ironic quotation of the headline in the local Nazi daily. It will take several years to complete the new work.

The second, revised edition of my first book is still selling and the publisher is considering a reprint. I am amazed at the local interest.
